River Dragon Launch Party & Book Discussion

Come Celebrate On April 23rd!
Join me for a celebration, discussion, and Q&A

Join me for a special celebration of the book launch on April 23rd from 7-8:30pm ET! Whether you’ve read River Dragon or not, you’ll enjoy this fun gathering. I’ll answer questions, share behind-the-scenes stories from the writing process, and guide a participatory book discussion.

RSVP here to get the zoom link.

(If you’re only partway through the story, please note that we’ll save the spoilers for the ‘afterparty’ – the last 30 mins of the virtual party. That way, you can hop off if you don’t want to hear what happens toward the end of the book.)

This will be great fun for everyone! The book discussion will also include questions you’ll enjoy even if you haven’t read the book yet. For example:

Q: In the opening chapter, the Peace Force is offering ‘crowd control’ and nonviolent protection for Ari Ara as she returns to Mariana. Where could we use a Peace Force like this in our world?

Q: In River Dragon, Ari Ara has to pass a series of tests to determine if she’s worthy of being queen. What qualities or strengths do you think are important in a leader?

Q: How does Ari Ara know that Mariana has a war culture? Do you think we live in a war culture or a peace culture? What makes you feel this way?

Q: In River Dragon, Ari Ara wrestles with a difficult choice. Does she speak out against militarism and war culture? Or does she wait until she is queen and then try to change things? If you were in Ari Ara’s shoes, what would you do and why?

Get River Dragon here.

As you can see, River Dragon is a fantasy novel that gets you thinking about important themes in real life. If you have young people in your circle, this book (and the entire Ari Ara Series) is a great way to get them talking about these issues.

The April 23rd Launch Party, Book Discussion & Author Q&A is your chance to ask me anything. How do I come up with ideas? How does the Community Publishing Campaign work? What’s the wackiest thing I do when I get writer’s block? I’ll also share behind-the-scenes tidbits and more!
